The Bayon
is a richly decorated Khmer Buddhist temple at Angkor, built in the late 12th century as the state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII. It stands at the center of the capital Angkor Thom. The most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smilling stone faces on the many towers which jut out frmm the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak.
